A developer at a mid-sized company, despite repeated applications, cannot register their Apple Developer Account under the company name and is forced to resort to an Individual Account. We already reported on this on March 8, 2025 – nothing has changed since, and Apple’s lack of response forces us to publicly call on the company to clarify the situation.
Background and Context
Companies increasingly rely on centralized Apple Developer Accounts to consolidate all app development under the legally registered company name. This significantly simplifies CI/CD pipelines, beta testing, and app deployments and ensures a consistent brand image in the App Store as well as in Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager. In our initial report on March 8, 2025, we described how an employee, despite submitting all corporate registry documents and a D-U-N-S number, did not receive approval and continues to register only as an individual.

Technical Details of the Issue
Typically, every corporate account goes through a multi-step verification process:
1. Submission of legally binding documents (corporate registry, D-U-N-S number)
2. Verification by Apple within 5–10 business days
3. Activation and annual renewal (99 USD per year)
In this case, the status remains “Pending Verification,” and attempts to contact the Apple Developer Support have so far been unsuccessful. Screenshots from the portal show no specific indications of missing documentation – everything points to an internal blockage.
Impact on Companies and Developers
• Release delays: Without a corporate account, enterprise CI/CD pipelines cannot automatically update code signing.
• Reputational risk: Major B2B clients are questioning Apple’s reliability in the corporate sector.
• Additional effort: Developers must create and manage separate individual accounts, which consumes time and incurs costs.
Critical Assessment
While Apple’s verification process protects against fraud and ensures quality in the App Store, an overly restrictive blockade of business registrations harms its own ecosystem: startups and established firms lose time, money, and trust. Clearer communication from Apple and transparent appeal mechanisms are urgently needed.

Outlook
We hope that Apple will respond in the coming weeks and adjust its processes – for example by:
• Establishing a dedicated Business Helpdesk with faster response times
• Providing automatic status updates in the Developer Portal
• Defining a formal appeals procedure for corporate registrations
Affected companies should simultaneously seek direct contact with Apple Enterprise Support and consider using Agency Accounts until a solution is in place.
